Grand Canyon - Last minute next weekend (Bright Angel cabins?
My best friend and I have been talking about a girls only road trip to the Grand Canyon and today I was thinking - why not right now? Would we be making a mistake going since it's still winter and thus only seeing the South Rim? Also, I just checked the Bright Angel reservations site and all they have is an $81/night cabin but a view is not guaranteed. I'd be pretty disappointed if we got all the way there and had no view? Anyone have experiences there to share?

All the cabins have a view, you just might have to walk five feet to get it. Not a heavy price to pay for the chance to experience one of the greatest wonders of the world.
As for Winter, visiting the Grand Canyon is never a "mistake". Indeed, if you're lucky maybe it will snow while you're there, making the Canyon look even more amazing. Be prepared for cold weather, especially since the canyon is best viewed in the morning and evening.
The best views are from the South Rim - most people who prefer the North Rim do so because the crowds aren't as bad, but in February the crowds shouldn't be bad on the South Rim. So the fact that you can't visit the North Rim should not be a deterrent.

I agree. If you have the time and opportunity to go - GO! The south rim is great - you will NOT regret it. And if it snows, you will be one of the lucky few who have seen that sight. Just go prepared for cold weather and have a great time!

GO! It's arduous to see both the North and South rims in one trip anyway, b/c of all the driving involved, and you must see the South Rim at least once in your lifetime. Secondly, Bright Angel is located just a few steps away from the rim itself, and you're very, VERY lucky to have gotten a cabin on such short notice. There are only a handful of rooms/cabins that have a view from a window. Go now, and if you love it, reserve something with a view for next time.

I arrived at my cabin in the middle of the night, and nearly fell into the Grand Canyon, it was that close. It's a rustic cabin, and views aren't really an issue, as you have incredible views the moment you step outside the door.

Thanks so much for all of the very helpful comments. Having never been there before I was worried we might miss out on something big but it sounds like we'll be getting the best of the Grand Canyon for the amount of time we have. I can't wait!

Although it will be cold, it's really worth getting up to watch the sun rise over the Grand Canyon. And staying at the cabins, you're just a few steps away, so you don't have to freeze for too long.
I was there in February, and it was gorgeous. The temps definitely rose during the day, so it wasn't too cold.
