Trip Report Granby Colorado Trip

Jump to last reply

Granby, well it was a typical hunting or fishing town and never ventured cept to travel thru it to the Rocky Mtn national park and other places .. but we did stay at Inn at Silver Creek as a hub to visit differant places .. Grand County has various places to stay besides where we stayed since it contains Winter Park as well as the ski resorts around Granby that abound with condo's and some hotels ..

Inn at Silver Creek: there seems to be alot of bad reviews and I was leery of my stay here for a week .. but all turned out just fine .. it is an old resort and it shows its age in many places .. our one bedroom condo with the separate bedroom was great for us .. full kitchen but small oven, dishwasher, refreg, full sink, coffeemaker in both rooms and all pans and cooking items .. stone fireplace to burn firelogs not firewood .. standard tv's in both rooms with digital tv reception .. main room showed carpet wear but separate bedroom really nice .. .. every thing listed like the gym, hot tubs, racket ball and such were very nice .. pool was drained for cleaning .. on site pub was a local hub for the community but never ate there ... very pet friendly and our beagle loved the place and we the price of $25 for the week for their stay .. one side of the main lobby housing seemed to be condo and the other side over nite hotel .. lot of business workers on the over nite side ..nice quite place with on site security so we felt safe there at all times .. the large grocery store that uses Korgar discount cards down the driveway was excellent for food and pre made food, pharmacy, Star Bucks ... liquor store, McDonalds and Subway there also in the small shopping center .. and gas station .. eveything we needed ..

for day trips easy access to the Rocky Mtn National Park , Steamboat and Winter Park Ski areas, Grand Lake, Colorado State Park .. we enjoyed the drives to each and many photo ops abound from elk or wildlife to vast vistas of landscape of mountains and streams and lakes .. being from Texas, 8,000 wasnt too bad for us 55 year olds to climb and hike around .. it was off season for trip and Steamboat was all but closed down yet other places were open or either opened late .. yet we had a great time in the area but my wife said she preferred the Vail Aspen areas since there was more to do in a town than way out in the country ..
