Hi All,
This Friday afternoon I'm taking the ferry from Cape May to Lewes DE on my way to Baltimore. Mapquest tells me this will be a 3 + hour trip. I was wondering if there are any good spots we could catch a little rest and get some enjoyment/amusement out of.
I'll be traveling with my fiance. We are in are 30's and enjoy good food, great scenery and quirky offbeat sort of stuff. So, anything that might hit one or all 3 of those qualities would be great.
Thanks.
good spots to pause between Lewes DE and Baltimore

1st time to Kauai! Will not be the last!

You might want to check out the Kent Island area, just before you hit the Bay Bridge. Boats, bars and eating places.
Just did a quick google: http://www.kentisland.cc/ Check it out. Among the quirky places is Red Eye's Dock Bar. We tend to be passing to and fro when we go through that area. However, one place I do try to stop is Chesapeake Chicken. I don't know what they do to their rotisserie chicken. But somehow they infuse it with something that's sublime--memory is trying to dumpt it to my taste buds right now. Awesome!
You'll be lucking out--bucking the Fri. evening traffic flow. It's brutal through that area. A large part of the east coast funnels through that Bay Bridge area (on their way to the DE/MD beaches) on Friday night. Annapolis is another place that would be fun to stop. But not on Friday evening....
Lewes itself is delightful. It would get my vote, hands-down, as the best place to stop. The only problem is that it comes at tbe beginning of your trip--not the middle of it.
Thanks for all that detail. It's just what I was looking for.
You might want to stop at the Narrows Restaurant for lunch. Just under the Kent Narrows Bridge, the Narrows has a nice view and serves up the best black bean soup I've ever eaten. Red Eyes is best on Sunday afternoons in the summer because of the wet tee-shirt contest. Don't eat at Fishermans Inn. The one time I ate there the fries were cold. The owner, Sonny Shultz, is a big jerk. He raised taxes during his last term as a commissioner in the early nineties. He was happily retired from office after he did that.
