Good Bethesda, MD hotel?
Message: I'm planning a stay at the Bethesda Court Hotel in June. It got some OK reviews in books and on the net. It's a Golden Tulip property. And it had a much better rate than nearby hotels, like the Hyatt.
However, has anyone stayed there?
I do want to stay in the Bethesda or Chevy Chase area (but the Holiday Inn Chevy Chase was full already).
Is there a way to use Priceline or another similar site to get a good rate on the Embassy Suites Chevy Chase. It's $200 a night at its web site, but I'd like to get it down to $140. I've never used Priceline.

If you really want to stay at ES Chevy Chase I would check the Embassy Suites web site and consider a Net Direct Rate. This is a rate that requires the full payment to paid for at the time of reservation; however, is often much lower than standard rates.
In fact, I used Net Direct Rates for the Embassy Suites Washington DC Downtown for my upcoming trip in June and found a rate for $139/night.
I hope this helps!

Unfortunately, the $200 a night rate is the net direct rate, at least it was the rate a few weeks ago. I will check it again about 4 weeks before the trip, when I don't have to pay too far up front. I'll check Travelocity, Orbitz, etc. again then too. Thanks.

I live in Chevy Chase and always use Priceline for my out of town guests. Bid for a 3* and try about $45. You may need to go up to $60 depending on the month and yours is a popular month. We always receive the Marriott Suites, the Marriott Hotel or the Hyatt with the Hyatt being the most centrally located. Look at the website- biddingfortravel.com as that is the bible for Priceline users. Good luck with your plans. Threehearts

As threhearts says, www.biddingfortravel.com is the ultimate resource for all details about Priceline.
But before you get buried in their stuff, I can tell you this: No, you cannot use PL to get a better buy on a specific hotel -- one of their basic premises is that you bid without knowing exactly which property you'll get. At BFT they list which hotels people have won, but you don't know which one you'll get -- you could even get one that's not on BFT's list.
