gondola from casinos to Heavenly

It's been a few years since I've been to Tahoe, but I hear that they have built a gondola that can take people from the casino area up to Heavenly. Questions: Is it free? Do you have to wait a while to get on one? How often do they run? What casino is it next to? Etc. Thanks!

The new gondola is right next to the Embassy suites which is right next to Harrahs and across the street from Harvey's (or the other way around) In other words just on the California side of the stateline. Easy walking distance. They are building a Marriott timeshare right between the gondola and the Embassy suites. It is not free. Scenic rides are $20 for adults. I imagine there would be some kind of wait on a busy ski day but it moves pretty fast, holds 6 - 8 peeps and there are many cars (buckets/gondoli?) Daily times M - F 9-4, SS 8:30-4

Suzie, thanks for your reply. We were planning on using it to get up to the lifts, to ski each day, but not for $20 each time! I was expecting a ride for a few dollars each way at the most. Now I know - guess I'll take the shuttle. Thanks again.

Actually if you buy the $57 lift ticket you have use of the gondola. I didn't know if you were going skiiing. Try this site for more info: www.skiheavenly.com

A sort of funny story: when I got my 20+ rolls of film from this summer's long trip back from the developers, I got them all out of sequence. Most of the pictures were from our summer in Alaska. As I tried to categorize them, I couldn't figure out where I had taken the most spectacular shots of all. Finally I realized that they were the pictures I had taken downward to Lake Tahoe and the mountains from that new lift at Heavenly. The views from there probably top all my shots in Alaska.
