My husband and friend would like to golf a couple of times while we are on the Big Island in Feb. Not a fan of paying high golf fees. Looking for recommendations for the most economical courses or ways to book with discounts. Thanks.

My husband has bought the discount card a few times from http://www.hawaiigolfdeals.com/ghc.html Depends on how often you want to play whether it is worth it or not. And a couple of courses that he has played and says are less expensive the the Kohala resort course are Kona Country Club and Makalei.

The "municipal" (semi-private) course in Waikoloa (Village, not Resort)can be very affordable: for example, $50 for p.m. tees (2:30), $20 club rental. Nice ocean views (6 miles away), nice course.

p.s. Depending on where you stay, there are often discounts available through the rental unit: we got a deal through the condo we stayed in (Fairway Villas, Waikoloa Beach) for the Waikoloa Beach Course (common clubhouse with the Kings course now). I won't give the condo here (it was several years ago, and we rented clubs in Kona from a place that isn't there anymore), but the reduced rates/deals are offered by many.
Thanks everyone. We're staying at Kona Coast Resort. I'll have to check if we qualify for any discounts.
