Golf: Naples, Fl

I will be in Naples, next month, arriving from the UK and hope to play some golf. Can anyone recommend 4 or 5 of the best courses that I can get access to, within a 45 minute radius of Naples?

Naples is a golfer's paradise. I live there (though am not a golfer, so I can't be thoroughly helpful). The place to start would be the Ritz Carlton in Naples. There are two RC's there: one on the beach (a gorgeous place) and one that's specifically for golfers, a couple of miles inland (also very handsome) If one stays at either RC, he has access to the facilities at both. And the hotel will surely be able to point you to other courses in the area-- there are many (tho I'm not sure how accessible to non-members).

Naples has more golf courses per capita than anywhere else in the world! But most are private or if public, quite expensive. Staying at a good hotel or resort will get you access to some pretty nice courses especially this time of year. Meeting with a sales officer at one of the new golfing developments will also get you a tee time (maybe complimentary) at one of those courses. Here's the complete list (well as of pretty recently):

I'm not particularly sensitive to the cost of green fees so long as the courses come with a good recommendation. As I am travelling from Scotland where we are spoiled for courses, I am hoping to narrow my search to some of the best courses in the area.

If you want telephone numbers, look up Patrick's post called "Golf in Naples."

I'm not a golfer, but have a lot of friends in Naples who are. Sadly the best courses are indeed the private ones. Poss was right though, about the course at the Ritz Carlton at Tiberon. It is supposed to be an outstanding course designed by Greg Norman, and it fortunately is a public course, so you don't have to stay there.
If you go to that website I gave above, you can even set up tee times right on line.

Try this website. You need to register, but it's free.

Great information and ways to find courses around the country.
