This poster has appeared often in the Lounge but never in the US forums, so I think it's not just an ad.
This seems to be a link to a members-only buyer's club. No need to join this if you want discount tickets to Broadway shows. There are plenty of other options available, including Playbill.com and Broadwaybox.com, not to mention the TKTS booths.
Some friends enjoyed Bring It On quite a bit. I haven't seen it, but it's widely discounted now.
Thanks, Doug, for your reply. I was considering An Enemy Of The People, have you heard anything about that one? I also checked BroadwayBox and Playbill, I belong to way too many discount sites!
I thought Goldstar was a popular site for discounted events that most people knew about. I thought this link might be of interest to some as a comparison, also it has other events that people may want to see at a discount. I've only used it once for a play in Minneapolis 2 years ago. I'm staying overnight in the city Sunday for an acupuncture rx on Monday and thought I'd see a play so was going to all these sites I've joined, hotel booked via Quikbook and acupuncture via Groupon. I'm spending too much money as I can't resist a sale, LOL!
Yes, I'm mostly in the Lounge, sadly I think I'm addicted, but I've posted on other Fodors forums and went to the recent NY GTG.
Thanks again for your input.

I don't pay to join discount ticket sites that offer nothing better than free ones, so I'm not really familiar with this one.
Regarding Enemy of the people. It's a very fine play, but I laugh at the TV commercials which makes it sound "spellbinding" or "gripping". It's Ibsen, for God's sake -- slow moving, and quite intelligent, and thought-provoking. I'm sure the acting is excellent, particularly the wonderful Boyd Gaines.
But if you want "that sort" of drama, I'd say Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf is hard to top! It's a long time favorite of mine, and the current production is perhaps the best I've ever seen -- certainly with the most humor.
Oh, yes, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf will definitely be pulling in the Tony awards come May. If you're looking for a play, Cyrano de Bergerac is also getting good reviews; I'm seeing that tonight.

Goldstar doesn't cost to join.
I've gotten great deals with Goldstar that I couldn't get elsewhere, and it is free to join. They are also good for smaller productions. I last used them in Seattle, but I have also used them in New York and Minneapolis, with no issues at all. Typically I get close to half-price.
Goldstar is awesome especially for non-NY shows and events. I have been a member for years and it is FREE to join. If you pay $79 /year ( I think that's the cost) which I also do, you have perks like cancelling tickets or changing dates after purchase. I don;t know how that works for Broadway shows but for here is SF I've always made my membership fee back in last minute cancellations.
BUT - the seats are the same whether you use the free service or not. And her in SF, they have merged with the local not-for-profit TKTS type service to provide even more shows and more discounts.
It's no different from being a playbill member.
I won't pay for any site and I belong to many, Groupon, Travelzoo, Bloomspot, Yipit, AmazonLocal, etc. I wonder if there are any I haven't signed up for.
Had a great brunch 2 weeks ago in NYC at Maison with unlimited Bloody Marys, Mimosas with a Groupon and having another this Sunday at either Brick, $29 for 2 with 4 drinks or Maison again. I love Groupon!
Thank you all for your responses.

Doug, are you as paranoid as we are about ads
I appear to be. And I had also never heard of Goldstar (except as an off-brand appliance company).
I don't know where Goldstar started, but they seem to be a cross between sites like living social, that offer coupons and TKTS that offer discount tickets. You can get discounts on a lot of items besides tickets - we recently did a kayaking trip on SF Bay for 1/2 price.
Doug, just as an aside, LG Appliances is the former Lucky Goldstar. The world's second largest manufacturer of TVs , after Samsung.
"I was considering An Enemy Of The People, have you heard anything about that one?"
I saw it in previews. Boyd Gaines was wonderful, as were some of the supporting actors. I enjoyed the production, but thought the pacing was uneven, and that the performance of the actress playing the daughter wasn't Broadway caliber.
Thanks, MareW.
I'll report back which show I saw, if any.

Goldstar started in California about 10 years ago.
It's free and covers a wide range of activities/events for kids as well as adults.
The best deals are offered 48-72 hours before events.
You can set email preferences and alerts by geography, venue, specific event, date, etc.
Reviews are very helpful/reliable because a person can only review an event for which he/she bought tickets on Goldstar.
We live in L.A., and Goldstar is a great source for things we otherwise don't hear about.
"Reviews are very helpful/reliable because a person can only review an event for which he/she bought tickets on Goldstar."
So let me see if I understand this. They won't post a review from a real theatre goer who bought his tickets directly from the source several months ahead of time, but they will publish reviews from people who bought them last minute simply because they were cheap. And that somehow makes the reviews more "helpful/reliable"? What am I missing here?
I think the idea is that if someone has logged into Goldstar, purchased a ticket, and then comes back and reviews the show (while logged in), that proves he or she saw the show. If the review is on a random anonymous site, how do you know the alleged theatergoer actually saw the show? He or she might be a plant. Of course, if fake reviews are that important to someone, it's easy to figure out ways to corrupt the Goldstar system too.
When I have used Goldstar, I have always reviewed the shows afterwards. It seems the least I can do after getting a bargain to see it.
OK, I am surprised to know that there is a big band of people out there who purposely log onto sites to review shows they have never seen.
