Gold Beach or Yachats?

Driving up the coast from California and have only 3 nights for both Gold Beach and Yachats. Which of the 2 would you recommend staying 2 nights? Which has larger selection of restaurants and more sights to see?
Thanks

I am more familiar with Yachats than Gold Beach - I think Yachats is a much quainter coastal town- there are not a lot of great restaurants but you also have Newport and Florence close by

In Yachats I usually stay at the Adobe- where there is a restaurant with ocean views.

I guess part depends on what you want to do for activities- There is a lot to see and do in both areas. Do you like to hike, be active - or?

In Gold Beach of course there are the jet boat rides which are very fun- I usually do the whole day trip.

If it's just the two of you and no kids, I would stay in Yachats at the Overleaf Lodge. Beautiful hotel and quaint little beach town.

In Yachats I have reservations at Overleaf. We like hiking, water views, good food, relaxation.
Maybe Tu Tu Tun in Gold Beach, though I know it's not on the ocean.
We're in mid 50's wihtout the kids.

So now you want to decide whether to spend 2 nights at Overleaf or TuTu Tun? I have never stayed at the TTT- so can't compare but I think I would choose Yachats as Overleaf is on the ocean instead of river- and the area between Florence and Newport is so scenic.

The Adobe I mentioned above is on a walking trail not far from Overleaf- there is also a bar upstairs with great views so yu can check that out.

Easy to walk from Overleaf into town along the waterfront and around the town- stop at the old church and museum. I think the museum is pretty interesting.

Stop at Heceta Head State Park - also called Devils Elbow- there is a nice trail up to the lighthouse - if you want to go farther- next to the lighthouse you will see a trail map which you can follow down to a secluded beach - has no road in- can only hike to it.
Nice hike and my favorite beach.

More challenging hike is the Amanda Trail- starts just at the edge of Yachats and goes up to top of the mountain at Cape Perpetua- we just did it one way using a shuttle system- but some were doing round trip.

Will think of some restaurants laterbut have to run now- heading out for the Olympic Trials

In Yachats we like to stay at the Fireside, which is next door to The Overleaf and is run by the people who own the Overleaf. The rooms are a bit dated, but they are also less expensive than the Overleaf. We like the high-ceilinged rooms on the top floor that have direct views of the ocean and a deck.

Like sunbum, we have dinner at the Adobe which offers good service, standard fare, and a good salad bar.

In Newport we book a Limited Edition room at the Hallmark. They are comfortable with all the amenities, including a well-equipped mini kitchen.
