Going to Maui and Kauai: flight suggestions?

Hi,
In June I am having a small wedding in Maui. We plan to stay in Maui for 7 days, have the wedding and then honeymoon in Kauai. My question is: I know a lot of you island hop from Maui to Kauai..what are the best flight recommendations? Should i just make a round trip reservation to Maui, book a roundtrip flight to Kauai and then leave for the states from Maui? Is there an easier way or is that the best? I was just wondering what most have you have done in the past.
Thank you!
Becca

Why would you go back to Maui from Kauai just to catch a flight back to the mainland? (You don't leave Maui for the states. Maui is IN the states !)

Since the state of hawaii and the airlines recognize tourism, it is much more affordable than other areas of the country to leave from a different destination as you arrival. Simply check multi destination flights, of course it will be more expensive, but relative when including interisland flights. I wish you many years of joy in your marraige.

You can go to expedia or orbitz and plan out both flight schedules; use the multiple stops feature. You can easily get from Kauai to LAX, for example, but not to many other mainland destinations. Because of the limited carriers, you will probably do much better with the roundtrips. If you have FF miles, their 800 number can be of some help, or contact a travel agent. The flight between islands is a short one, no need to get upset over such a small thing.

We just came back in September and flew into Maui for 7 days, island hopped to Kauai for 7 days and then flew home from Kauai (we used FF miles on AA). Even if its more money to fly this way, it would be worth it because I would not want to waste my previous vacation time wasting time flying back to Maui to fly home!
