We are traveling to Denver mid-July to see our favorite Phila Phillies play the Colorado Rockies. If possible, we would like to stay in Denver, near sights and restaurants, and travel out to the game. Is this do-able? Is there public transportation? Where would you suggest we stay - does not need to be dirt cheap, but we also do not want to break the bank. Restaurant suggestions also welcome. Thank you in advance.

Coors Field is in downtown Denver--well actually lower downtown (i.e., LoDo). So get a hotel in downtown and walk to the game!
What is your hotel budget?
If you visit the Capitol building, one of our favorite restaurants is right across the street - Shish Kabob Grill. http://www.shishkabobgrill.com/

You need to take public transit to Coors Field as there is little public parking around. I would stay in the downtown area but if that is too high for you look for the Denver Tech Center area. It is along the light rail line and would allow you to use the transit to get in and out of downtown. You can get a $5/day permit. We also the bicycle short term rental program which makes it easy to get from point to point in downtown Denver.
Your replies are very helpful - thanks!
