Glacier Park Montana - The Great Bear Lodge St. Mary & Pinnacle Cottages
I tried to make June reservations at the Great Bear Lodge St. Mary, but was informed that the lodge, restaurants, grocers, etc. were for sale. The Pinnacle Cottages were still available so I reserved one. Although we have the cottage, we hope the lodge will be open by the time we arrive since we would like access to the other amenities. Does anyone have information regarding the lodge status? Has anyone stayed at the Pinnacle Cottages? Any information is appreciated.

I hope someone buys the lodge! It was a family run business i think which is now in the third generation. last year we splurged and stayed in the Pinnacle Cottages. They are really nice, up on a hill with full kitchen, deck ,grill and beautiful views. The sky at night was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. Since the Lodge and other amenities are the only thing around there- that is the town on the east side of going to the sun road- (blink and you willl miss it) I hope for your sake they will be up and running. The lodge is beautiful for hanging out with a great souvineir shop. They have all kinds of eating options there. I loved Glacier. If you can't get anything there Waterton on the Canadian side would be an option. It's only 45 minute drive and it's a quaint little town with all kinds of accommodations and restaurants shops. We saw a ton of wildlife there.

I don't think the lodge will be open by June. My husband wants to stay at the Pinnacle Cottages regardless because of proximity to park and spectacular view. I'll go along with that if the view from those cabins is REAL Spectacular. The pics on the web site don't show the cottages in relation to the lodge and I've only seen a couple of reviews. Is the lodge and parking lot part of your view? He doesn't want to change lodging during the week. I keep thinking of Whitefish, but I'd like to give my husband his way since it's his birthday. At $370/night, there are some pretty nice places to stay. (This post sounds like me thinking out loud.) Any thoughts/info will be appreciated.
