we will be in moab on Oct 20th to friday 26th 2012 ....my sister wants to stay in moab longer and my husband and I need to get back on friday ( there isn't a rental car place).. is there another way?????????

There is a rental car place at Moab airport. AKA CNY airport.
I bet they don't offer a one-way rental though (im not sure). The airport is a few miles out of town.
of course, it might be cheaper to just rent two cars from the start of the trip at Salt Lake
There is an Amtrak from Green River, 52 miles from Moab according to the Amtrak site. Your sister might be willing to make the round trip and drop you off at the station. Of course, I am not sure that Amtrak follows its posted schedules, and the Green River station has no shelter.
Trry posting your request on the Moab facebook page https://www.facebook.com/visit.moab.utah and contact http://www.kzmu.org this friday between 11 AM - 1PM they have the trading post and you can announce your need for a ride from Moab to SLC.
I believe there is a shuttle that runs from Moab to SLC--you could google it or call the Moab visitor center.

The CA Zephyr may or may not be on time out of Green River. Scheduled in Green River at 5:58PM arriving in SLC shortly after 11PM which is not a great time to get to SLC.
Look into Salmon Air. They fly between Moab and SLC in small planes, regular schedule. It may very well be less $$ to just rent two cars at the beginning of your trip.
