Georgetown Washington DC Historic row houses along C&O Canal?
We're spending a few days in Washington DC in mid October. We're staying at the Tabard Inn around Dupont Circle.
I would like to spend a day in Georgetown. I did a Google Map route and find that I can easily walk to Dumbarton Oaks Gardens (yay!) and Oak Hill Cemetery (love historic cemeteries).
Saw a photo of a path along the C&O Canal where you can walk beside these historic row houses. Can anyone tell me where this is? I mapped to the C&O Canal National Historic Park, but not sure if this is where I want to be. I won't have a car, so want to make sure to get it right!
I would also like to walk around the historic district where the beautiful homes are (not interested in the shopping areas). It would be nice to see the neighborhood where the Kennedys lived, for example.
Can one of you experts help? Thanks.

Here's a little more info about the row houses on Canal Street which are, as already mentioned, between 30th and 31st Streets. The National Park Service has a visitors center at Canal & Thomas Jefferson Streets. One of the best coffee (and cupcakes!) shops in DC is on Thomas J Street right next to the canal, Baked and Wired.

Most of the rest of what you want to see will be north of M Street.
Ask the concierge at the Tabard Inn to direct you to the Circulator bus stop at 19th & N for the Dupont-Georgetown route. You can use your metro Smartrip card for the $1 fare to take you into G'town on M Street. Get off in the vicinity of 30th. Alternately you can walk from the Tabard -- about 1/2 an hour to M & 30th.
