My 21 y/o daughter is interested in going to the village or Soho for some shopping at funky boutiques and luch at a bistro or cafe.
Any recommendations on a favored area? How about eateries?
Any and all input is greatly appreciated.
P.S. Of special interest are vintage clothing stores.
Thanks!

Vintage clothing in NYC is pricey. Housing Works is a chain of Thrift shops that can be good. Here are some past threads with other names.

I think the hot area for funky shopping is now Williamsburgh Brooklyn. There's a flea market on weekends in Brooklyn that's also supposedly very good.
There are many designer/owner shops between Ave A and Second Ave between 9th and 12th Street.
There are also many places to eat with all sorts of food in the neighborhood. For bistros try Casimir, Flea Market, and Lucien.
My favorite lunch spot in the East Village is the VESELKA Coffee shop, at 9th and 2nd. It's got wonderful Ukrainian food- pirogis, blintzes, home made, soups, desserts, and a hot minted chocolate that is out of this world. My daughter, also 21, loves it, too, and that whole area is wonderful for its tiny boutiques and shopping.
