Fun things to do in Portland

Going to Portland tomorrow for a week. Does anyone have any suggestions for some fun things to do. I have two kids that are 6 and 2. Of course, my husband and I would like to also sneak away by ourselves for the day, and leave the kids with Grandma.

Probably too late but Portland has some good things for families. The Oregon zoo is very nice, OMSI is great and a very full day. The rose garden would be fun for a picnic and there is a great playground nearby. Take them to Powells and let them each choose one book from the huge bookstore. Go to the Saturday market downtown and watch the street performers.

There are some very nice restaurants for you and husband so sneak away but they are mentioned in other posts and I don't have any to recommend. Kids might like The Spaghetti Factory.

Jamison Square in the Pearl District is our favorite this summer. It has the best and newest fountain in town. Hours of fun and very relaxing and urban for the adults.

It's a drive but you might want to check out the Oregon Garden with the kids. There is face painting and classes on butterflies etc.

I guess this is a perfect example of including specific location in one's posting. I have lots of info about Portland, Maine, but I'm not going to take the time to give it until I'm sure we're talking Maine, not Oregon.
