Our family is headed to the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Beach Resort in the North Beach area of Ft. Lauderdale for a long weekend in April. With 2 younger boys, we'll probably look to have some lower cost kid-friendly meals outside of the hotel. Seeing the local sights would be nice, but not a priority as we'll spend most of our time on the beach and at the pool. Taxi fare from the airport is only $25. Hotel parking is $30/day. We're looking to see if we can manage a fun stay without renting a car. Any advice is appreciated.

Trip Ideas
I would try it without the rental car. If you are feeling cabin fever, there will be car rental locations close to the hotel. The hotel is centrally located, but I think you are going to be a mile from other restaurants.
The hotel doesn't say it has a shuttle. If they do, Hilton is usually friendly about dropping you at restaurants or attractions.
Thanks stumpworks73. This Hilton doesn't have a shuttle. We were hoping we'd be within walking distance (1 mile is ok) to other restaurants.
We've always used cabs and pedicabs. The overnight parking fee is too high and will most likely cover your cab rides with $ left over.
The kids would love a pedicab ride! Thanks.
What's going on in Ft. L. from the 20- 25th? Need help with plans- thanks
There are tons of places you will be able to walk to and eat, as far as kid friendly.. well that depends on how friendly
. Most of them are going to be resturants with bars, and tons of people. There isn't really ANY fastfood within walking distance, but there are sub shops, and stuff like that around. If you are only planning on doing the beach thing, and not really site see you are probably better off not renting a car, as you will be able to walk to plenty of good places to eat, especially if you and your kids like seafood.
