From NYC to Carson City Airport for Bryce and Zion
I've noticed that many people talk about flying into LV to travel to Bryce and Zion National Parks, but no one speaks about flying into Carson City Airport which is also in the vicinity. We are planning a trip from New York in June of '07 and we found that we can get a flight to LV, with a few hour layover, and then a flight to Carson City Airport. We can sleep there overnight before heading out to Bryce and start our trip that way. We will then go south to Zion, and further south to the North Rim and back to Carson City Airport. (the trip will be 9 days). Any opinions on this?

Are you sure you don't have Carson City confused with Cedar City? Carson City is northern Nevada, close to the California border and nowhere near Zion or Bryce.
Cedar City is close to Zion, but in that "few hour layover" you could drive from LV to Zion. I suspect that's why nobody talks about flying there - it's gotta be more expensive and takes just as long to get there, if not longer.

You might want to consider flying into St. George. I flew in there to visit a spa in St. George and then rented a car for Zion and Bryce. It wasn't that far at all, however the descent to get into St. George = Very scary.
