From LGA to East Side on NYE

4 passengers arriving around 10 pm, need to get to 1320 York Ave. between E 70th & 71st. I assume a private car would be better than a taxi. Airport website lists 3 car companies with different cars and prices with additional charge for tolls, etc. Traveling with a patient so I am looking for an easy, reasonable way to get to where we're staying. I am not familiar with NYC transportation and have no idea how much tolls or other expenses are. Any recommendations?

Get a car service - either Dial7 or Carmel - both are reliable and among the most reasonably priced. Google them for contact info.

Forgot to mention - toll should be about $5.50. "Other expenses" will be sales tax & gratuity for the driver. That's it.

Thanks; at least now I know what to expect. I booked Carmel for $58 + extras.

There is no sales tax on car services. You pay the agreed-upon fare, the toll and a 20% tip (of the fare, but not the toll). Look at the websites to see if you can find a coupon.

Also, if there are 4 of you, check what type of vehicle you will need. Four can fit in the standard car - a Lincoln Town Car as long as you don't have a ton of luggage. That assumes one person sits in front with the driver. If you have a large amount of luggage - do let the car service know.

Also be aware that you need to reserve in advance - but do NOT arrange for "meet and greet" unless you want to pay extra (they will charge for waiting time). Instead tell them your flight and then call them when the plane lands. They have a large number of cabs and typically can get one to the airport by the time you get your luggage.

Thanks, we only have one carry on per person. My husband is concerned about waiting for a car to arrive so I may cancel and go with a cab.

On New Year's Eve you may wait just as long or longer for a cab. If you can book something, please do book it now. It's going to be very difficult to find any kind of transportation at this late hour. Seriously, book in advance if you can.

Arriving that late on New Year's Eve there might be a significant wait for a cab - although usually it's just based on the length of the line - no more than 5 or 10 minutes.

But New Year's eve a lot of people are looking for cabs and car services - so definitely reserve now or you may get either all booked or wait for an hour or more.
