About 25 years ago or so, there was a shoe store in the Village called Fred Braun that had the most comfortable shoes. I'm going to NYC soon and wonder if this store still exists. Does anyone know?

I actually knew a guy named Fred Braun but he died a few years ago. I'm not familiar with the shoe store.
I lived in Fred Brauns 25-30 years ago.
No longer around anywhere. I even did a internet search. Nothing.
He was the Steve Madden of the 70s.
Big disappointment about Fred Braun, AJ. I loved those shoes!
Wow, Fran. Talk about a trip down memory lane. I loved my Fred Brauns as a teenager. I guess that really dates me. Haven't thought about them in years, but it's my understanding that they're gone.
I threw an old pair of Fred Braun's on top of a telephone pole in Brooklyn back in the 70's. I wonder if its still there?
Actually there were a bunch of Fred Braun stores--one on Lexington near Bloomingdales, one on 34th street. I guess I was a teenager hen I wore them too but I remember them mostly for the high heels my mother surprisingly let me buy there! They went out of business by the early 80's.
IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR FRED BRAUN SHOES FOR YEARS
You might find some vintage F. Braun's at Cobblestones. http://www.yelp.com/biz/cobblestones-new-york
OK, as if I weren't feeling old enough in 2011, here comes a madeleine that takes me back to 8th street in 1968.

I went to Winthrop Jr. High in the '60's. I remember getting Fred Braun shoes for the first day of school! Could'nt wait to go school shopping.
