My electric bill is gonna be sky high and I don't have AC!

Rant: the war in the Middle East isn't showing any signs of stopping. Innocent babies are caught in the crossfire.#39;(

Rave : waynehazel's India "Crucible" trip report on the Asia board. I'm loving every minute of it!

Rave : It has cooled down significantly over the past two days.

All the tourists in Mobay because of the annual Reggae music festival Sumfest. Traffic is driving me c_-r_-a_-z_-y.

Sumfest will be over on Sunday and all the tourists will be gone! quot;>

>< to all.

Have a great weekend everybody!!

Hi jorr!

Rant: We have been having about 105 degrees with notices the temperture will go up to about 110 for the next 4 or 5 days and than "drop" down some degrees after that.

Rave: A/C indeed

Rant: Yes indeed, the electric bill makes me sick to think about it!

Rave: Uhm, life is gentle, no problems unlike the month of June and part of July.

Rant: Young people in the family that do not have a clue that life isn't all about them, lol.

Rant: We've lost power 4 times in the past week. We were out of town the first time, so don't know how long it was out. The second time it was over 7 hours, the third time a short while and today we were out for about two hours. When I called today we were given an approximate restore time that would have meant 13 plus hours without power. Thank God they were wrong about that!

Rave: All the wonderful Fodorites who've been so helpful on my various threads about our upcoming college visits.

Rant: The veto of the stem cell research bill. My heart goes out to all of the people suffering from diseases that might be cured through that research.

Rant/Rave: Our week of college visits. I don't like the reminder of how soon we'll be empty nesters. But I'm looking forward to being on the road!

Happy Friday!

Rant: Youngest son called last night to say his best friend is in the ICU. It seems he had a minor heart attack and is only 20 years old. please send good thoughts his way. Wish we were home for our boy.

Caph, best of luck with the college search. IºLL be thinking of you.

This will be my last visit to the internet cafe in Portugal. Finished shopping and heading to the pool, then the beach.

Have a safe weekend everyone.

stw, I'm glad to hear from you, but how scary that such a young person would have a heart attack!! Wishing him the best for a speedy recovery.

Rant: Dad, stepmom and I were looking at Israel for 2007, but that's now off the radar screen. I hope the trouble ends soon, this is an awful situation.

Rave: Our condo in Hawaii is booked!! It's right next to the best snorklin' hole on the BI.

Rave: JAGIRL's colorful posts. She must be a colorful character.

Rave: Fodorites who give me a giggle.

Happy weekend all.

Rave: 1 week closer to Puerto Vallarta
Rant/Rave: 1 week closer to the "big" day

Rant: Last week my dad was told that his problems stemmed from low blood pressure. This week he was admitted to ICU because what he really has is Atrial Fibrillation. Weds. morning my mom made him see his dr. (who he hadn't been able to see because he was away on vacation) and his dr. told him within minutes that 's what it was. Why couldn't the frigain cardiologist he saw last week find this? The poor guy could have had a stroke. He's spent the last 2 nights in the hospital, first night in ICU because of the meds they were giving him via IV (couldn't be given to him on a regular floor) and last night in ICU because they didn't have any more beds open. Anyway, I'm thankful they found it and can finally treat him. I didn't realize how pale he had been until I saw him with color back in his face. I can also tell in his eyes that he's feeling better. He's not one to actually say how he feels, but his eyes say it for him....Dr. feels strongly that he should have a pacemaker. I thought it was a little soon for that but he doesn't mess around and just doesn't want to take chances.

Rave: I hope this makes him take a look at things and slow down and take better care of himself.

Rave: Our last electric bill was $29!!!
Rave: Even though it's been very hot and humid, we haven't need the AC because our house actually stays fairly cool, so far. Otherwise, we wouldn't be enjoying that $29 electric bill.

STW--that is so young! I hope he recovers quickly and your son is ok. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

LoveItaly--I have a brother that sounds like what you mention. I've actually titled a book in his honor--"It's all about me. Life according to F-----."

Have a good weekend everyone!

Rave: Spending Christmas week in Tortola in the BVIs!

At the wedding I went to a couple weeks ago in Tortola, the groom gave me his house in Tortola for the week of Christmas.

He and his bride will be spending their first Christmas in the states with his kids and her kids.

Rant: I have an 8 mile run in the morning and the most I've run is 4 miles. Yikes! Well, five miles but I didn't run the entire bit.

Rant: I have to get up at 5AM to run.

Rave: I'm running the ING NYC Marathon with my best friend who lives in Milwaukee.

Rave: She and her husband are DINKS and she sent me a big old box of her hand me downs (I love hand me downs) with clothes with the tags still on. Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dress, cashmere sweaters, and a surprise gift of a Hermes scarf!

Rave: I am back from Paris enjoying the comfort of my bed and pillow

Rave: We are enjoying beautiful weather here in the mid 80's when our summers are usually so mild.

Rant: We (DH, DD, DS and I), too had an Israel trip scheduled for May '07, don't think it'll happen.

Rave: a gentleman who leads the Israel tours for our church will be here tomorrow evening and will be discussing the crisis. It should be interesting. He is a colonel w/ the Israel Defense Forces.

Happy Birthday, Trish!!

Good luck on the college visits CAPH52--we also have a senior-to-be but he's had his college picked out since he was 10 years old. Boo, I want to visit colleges! I'll just have to live vicariously through your reports

Seetheworld, am thinking of your son's friend and hoping for the best--so sad and scary.

Ethel, GLAD they figured out what was wrong with your dad--he needs to be healthy to walk you down the aisle.

Rave: My 73 year old mom left yesterday for her first NYC trip ever. She's traveling with friends and was excited for the journey. She is so dear and is the type of person who learns the life story and makes friends with everyone she meets. We did have a little chat beforehand on NOT making friends with the guys who sell Rolex watches in Times Square...

Rant/rave: My daughter leaves today to spend 10 days with relatives on the other end of the state. She can't wait but I'm going to miss the little stinker.

Have a great weekend, all.

tpatriccco, Happy Birthday!

ethel, glad they found out what your dad's problem is.

Rant: Winter clothes in the stores. It's July! In the summer it's too hot to think about winter clothes. In the winter there are too many winter clothes to remove to try on summer clothes.

Rant: Snails in my garden. I pick them off. I really don't think I'll ever be able to eat escargot again....

Rave: Lightning bugs.
