Four Seasons Maui
We are going to the Four Seasons Maui for our honeymoon the second week of April. How crowded is it by the pool and beach...how early do you have to get up to reserve a cabana or pool chair?

Pool is small...gets crowded early. Beach is fine. I would recommend getting out there early if you want a "good" seat...we found that people would wake up early, go to the pool to put towels on chairs ("saving" them), then go back to bed. I found that annoying, but I suppose it's a good strategy.

We stayed at the 4S in October and one of us had to get up at 7 to reserve a chair/cabana. That's only if you want one of the prime locations. If you plan to sit right next to the pool or on the beach, then it's not as difficult.

We are going to the 4S Maui for our honeymoon in June and I was wondering this exact same thing. So how exactly does one "reserve" a chair/cabana? Do I seriously just go out there at 7am, plop by towel on it to "save" it, go back to bed, and it will be there later?

Well, it seemed to work for others when I was there. There would be towels placed on quite a few chairs in the morning and it must have been an unwritten rule that those were "saved." In fact, we got yelled at by a lady for sitting on one of her "saved" chairs (we weren't "stealing" it, just sitting on the end, fully clothed, for a few minutes while waiting for a meeting to start). She was no where in sight when we sat down, but came out of the woodwork to yell at us, then left again. Some of the chairs had more than just a towel...like a book or magazine, or pair of flip flops. I wouldn't leave anything valuable, but enough to let someone know that you're planning on sitting there.
Personally, I just took my chances and got whatever chairs were open when I was ready to sit by the pool. I always had a seat...just not "prime" ones.
