Hi,
I know the Four Seasons is in the Mandalay Bay (or at least I think). How do you get there? Do you enter through Mandalay Bay and look for the Four Seasons elevator?

Also do you need a special key to enter the Four Seasons lobby?

I'm asking because I will be staying there in a couple weeks and my friends will have already checked into the room. We're putting 3 in a room even though we only have indicated 2 people so I'm hoping I can just go straight up to the room w/out being stopped by someone or something (i.e. key). Worse case scenario, my friends could meet me in the lobby.

I'd appreciate any info about how checkin/getting pass the lobby works at FS.

A 4S or a Ritz are the last places I'd try that stunt.

Are you splitting the bill 3 ways? Then for another $10 each, you could enjoy your stay in Sin City without sinning yourself.

I don;t think you have "indicated" 2 people. You have booked and paid for a room for 2 people.

And if they find a third person - they may well simply charge you the difference - assuming the room for 2 they give you has sleeping, facilities, bed linens and towels sufficient for 3 people.

(What if you end up with a room with one king size bed? Will you all share?)

I actually think the opposite. For that kind of money, and at the level of service and respect they give their customers, I think you can have whoever you like sleep there.

At these places (and I've stayed at them all over the place) you could order extra towels be brought to the room on the hour and they would probably do it.

I also think they'll give you as many keys to the room as you want. After all it's Las Vegas! They don't ask questions.

I do think you should keep it discreet but I wouldn't worry about it.

I totally agree. I found airfare to Europe too high, so I indicated 1 passenger and my hubby sat on my lap to Paris. at the prices they were charging, I figured I could have whoever I wanted sit in my seat!

I'm a little shocked people feel entitled to lie to a hotel because they are 5* and provide good service. When I find myself in the same situation, I merely choose a hotel that's within my budget.

I don't understand why there is a mentality that people think they can actually cheat others and it's OK. There is a reason hotels charge more for three people, it costs them more to house them. This sense of entitlement, that seems to be more pervasive than it used to be, needs to stop. We see it everywhere and it's not right.

Interesting topic. The other day while the two of us were having dinner at a nice restaurant (I was seated under the table so my partner could pass food to me and not pay that silly fee they charge for sharing), we decided too that you should be able to do anything you want these days so long as you're paying for it.

So we're gathering together a dozen of our best friends and renting a room at the Ritz for a "pajama party" this weekend. After all, we can take turns sleeping (although I think mainly we'll just be sitting up drinking and partying). And there's no reason the Ritz would refuse us extra towels so we can all take showers in the morning. And would you believe they have the nerve to charge more for two in a room than for just one, so of course, we'll be telling them it's just one person. If we get a low enough floor, perhaps the guests can climb up over the railing in case there are guards stationed in the lobby who try to question them.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but every hotel I've stayed in in Vegas (Venetian, Bellagio, NYNY), I've had to show my room key to security just to get to the elevator bank.

You can't just walk right in unless you have a key. Security will check everyone.

GoTravel, I think you're partially correct. A key has to be shown to security, but I've always found that only one person in the party has to show a key. For example, if I'm with my husband, he'll show one key for both of us. So I'm guessing that if the OP always comes and goes with a friend who has a key, that could work.

As an aside, on my list trip to the Wynn, there was absolutely no security during the daytime--only in the evening--which really surprised me.

Yes, she will have to show a room key but on the same note if they do get an extra one (because one was "lost") I am sure the elevator security person would not know the difference.

Wow that is amazing about the Wynn. We had lunch at the Venetian at Bouchon. When we left the restaurant which is in more of a hotel wing than a public area, we missed the bank of elevators down to the lobby and walked to the end of that hall, where we were practically attacked by a guard demanding our key as that was a private part of the hotel. Huh? I apologized as we backtracked to find the right elevators.

Yes, the security at the Venetian was far superior to the Wynn's. At least during the daytime.

And I'm not so sure you can get an extra key by claiming you've "lost" one. I seem to recall that at some hotels, their policy is that if you lose a key, they will reprogram the locks and issue you new cards, so you don't really get any extras.

What was that recent book that shared the secrets of five star hotels? The gist of it was folks thought they were anonymous in a "big hotel" but their comings and goings were watched and noted.

At a 4S and Ritz, where they greet you by name...well, do what you want, but don't delude yourself that they won't know what you are doing. Super 8, Days Inn, Motel 6 - they could care less. A 4S WILL know. (And, in my book, it IS cheating).

Quite a bit of fun ribbing here hermie. In all seriousness, your friends should just be upfront with the frontdesk when they check in and if needed have a rollaway set up in the room for you. We did this a couple of weeks ago at theWynn with no charges added to our bill. They may have a nominal fee for additional people in a double occupancy room, or they may not. But sneaking into a 5 star hotel with 5 star security servielence is not the way to go. Have fun!

Wow....seems like everyone would rather debate the poster's ethics rather than answer the question. I don't remember reading any part of the original post that asked anyone's opinion of putting three in a room.

hermie - you do not need a special key to enter the lobby of the Four seasons. It is no different than entering the lobby of any other hotel here in Las Vegas. Anyone can enter the lobby area at the FS.

When you asked how to get there, you did not mention your mode of transportation. If you are taking a cab, just ask to go to the FS. You will be dropped at the entrance to their lobby. If you are driving, I would park at the Mandalay Bay parking garage. Once inside Mandalay Bay, anyone can direct you to the FS lobby. It will be a long walk and I assume you will carry your own luggage. If you have much luggage, take a small piece with you and go back to the garage with your friends to retrieve the rest.

There may or may not be a security guard manning the bank of elevators that is used for the FS rooms, but you may need the room key to activate the elevator...this part I don't know. It would be best to call your friend's cell phone or room phone and have them come down to the lobby once you arrive, in case the key is needed to get past security or to activate the elevator.
