When you say "bike trails", are you referring to mountain biking? I don't do that - just road biking for me. If you mean road bikes, the very best place to ride is along the west shore of the lake - one end of the off-the-road path is just south of Sugar Pine Point State Park, and the other is up to Squaw/Alpine or a branch goes toward Dollar Point. From either to the end of the path is about 18 miles (36 miles round trip). The path is not very hard, although there are inclines and it would be good to know how to work the shifters on your bike LOL. Parts of the path are along the Truckee River, which is particularly full and gorgeous this summer, and parts are along the lake. There are a few places you have to cross the road (get off and walk your bike!) and a very small section you have to ride on the road itself.

There are bike paths elsewhere, but none of them is long and continuous like the one on the west shore.

Since you already received biking recommendation for the west shore I won't repeat. If you wish to bike in SLT then definitely rent bikes from Anderson's and pick up one of tehir maps. They are excellent at recommending jsut the right bike trail for your skill level and for the scenery you want.

To get to Angora Lakes Trailhead:

north on 89 to Fallen Leaf Lake Road and turn left at the first paved road. Continue to Forest Service Road 12N14, turn right and continue past Angora Lookout to the parking lot at road’s end. There is a fee for parking in the lot.

We had a really nice lunch on Friday with only 9 miles left to ride - on the back patio at Firesign Cafe in Sunnyside, just south of Tahoe City. I also highly recommend the burgers at the Bridgetender in Tahoe City - sit out back.

You should stop in at Sugar Pine state park. You can tour the Ehrmann Hellman mansion.

Also you can tour Vikingsholm at Emerald Bay.

We noticed about a week ago that there was still plenty of water coming donw Eagle Falls so you could hike there out of Emerald Bay - pretty short.

Eagle Rock close to Tahoe City is short steep and has terrific views.
