Fort Lauderdale/ Miami best location

Hi, We are going on a quick weekend getaway next month and I am looking to narrow down the areas. We want to be on or near the beach (5 - 10 min walk ok). We have 2 teenages who love water activities, so access to that would be good. Also would like to be in walking distance to good eating places. Crowds/ noise ok but do not want a clothing optional beach. Once I decide on the location I can look into hotels and vacation rentals in the area.
Thanks for your help

The Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood meets your requirements and is a wonderful hotel. http://www.diplomatresort.com/default.html

Two of our favorite places to stay in fll are the Marriott Courtyard and the Harbor Beach Marriott. The latter is right on the beach, great pool but expensive. The Courtyard is across the street from the beach, smaller pool, lower room rates. Both walking distance to good restaurants. Our other fave is Lago Mar right on the beach but from there you'd need a car or taxi to get to restaurants. Although it has a restaurant and snack shop on site.

Thanks. So is it better to stay in FLL than Miami?

Well, South Beach in Miami would also be a fun place to stay.

I would choose FLL over South Beach. You never know what your teenagers may see on South Beach!!

I've been to South Beach and never saw anything that I wouldn't want my teen to see.

We were there this past February. There were people getting VERY...shall we say...affectionate right on the beach. Men putting their mouths on exposed female breasts, etc.
I am far from being a prude, but wouldn't want my teenagers looking at that. It was uncomfortable enough for the adults in the area.

I never saw this, what area of South Beach does this go on at. I know the beach goes for miles. I've only been to the part by the main art deco shopping area.
