Food near NY Botanical Gardens

I am going to the NY Botanical Gardens tomorrow (9/9/06). Any suggestions for a place to grab soup and a sandwich (light fare) near the Gardens or on Fordham's campus?

Thank you, Amie

they have cafes on the grounds with just that type of food. It's nicely done, not lousy cafeteria stuff.

I'll second that. We had surprisingly good food for lunch in a nice setting right at the gardens.

They have light fare at the Gardens and since it will be such a nice day tomorrow, you might want to sit at the outdoor cafe. Or you could walk to Arthur Avenue. I would avoid eating at Fordham though -- you could do better at the Gardens, lol.

Enjoy your day the Chihuly exhibit is fabulous!

Hey Arnie,

If you are a trooper, trully like good food, especially some of the best Italian in the NYC Metro area, you'd heed the previous suggestion and take a cab to Arthur Avenue - a true and real Italian neighborhood in NY.

Go to the market where there are a few stalls serving lunch fare - including soups and sandwiches. Mike's deli makes some really good Italian sandwiches, plus they make their popular mozzarella right on the premises.

I don't know what I was thinking...If you go to Arthur Avenue, take a cab. We walk since we are usually at Fordham when we go there. But you won't be able to get through the gates and it's a pretty long walk otherwise.
