Folly Beach, SC restaurant input

We will be in Folly Beach next weekend and am looking for good dining options. At least some (if not all) the meals we will have a 20 month old in tow. And probably need to cover everything from breakfast to dinner as well as good places for cocktails. We will be staying on East Hudson Ave.

We ate at Taco Boy in Charleston and were very pleased. Great fresh food and drinks. I think they have a location in Folly Beach.

Wow that baby grew fast!

Taco Boy is a great option. Also look at Wich Doctor. Like them on FB for daily specials.

If you can drive into West Ashley, Mustard Seed is good too.

SD & SIL's new house is on James Island, so checking out the Mustard Seed is a good idea

The best meals we had on Folly a year or so ago were at Rita's. Great food, plenty casual for kids. I still think about the surprisingly good BBQ sandwich I had for lunch. I hear it's been closed for renovations, but expected to reopen soon, if not already.

Be aware that some restaurants on Folly still allow smoking. Many do not, but you may want to check before taking your GD.

Lost Dog Cafe is a must for breakfast.

I was looking at Lost Dog Cafe because we could bring Tyrod. Thanks for the head's up in smoking!

We had two meals at The Lost Dog....what a great place that is. Taco Boy never worked out for a meal but we had cocktails there.

We had a great meal and a fun time at Bowen's. I had never experienced any place like it and it was perfect for the weekend.

DH & I headed downtown Sunday night and had another great meal at MacIntosh and Monday night we had a very good meal downtown with SD & SIL at Coast.

We definitely will stay in Folly again when we bring Tyrod as it is close to SD & SIL's house on James Island. For Tyrod-free trips we will likely stay downtown as it is very close to them.

Thanks for the Bowen's rave. I haven't eaten there yet, but fished from their dock many, many times. I'll try it next week when my cousins come in.

Anything special on the menu to recommend?

Are SD and SIL in a sub division here on James Island?

Yes! They are living off of Harborview. It is a rancher that was built in the early 1970's and a builder bought it, completely renovated and redesigned it and sold it. SIL said a local magazine wants to write an article about it. I will let you know if that Happens.

I LOVE that neighborhood. SO happy for you all.

Yes, oysters at Bowen's in-season are the best. Glad you had fun.

Okay, oysters Tuesday night. Suewoo, it is a nice area and I've become very fond of it the seventeen months I've lived here.

Under shameless brag, I want to mention that SD found out yesterday she will be receiving the New Dentist Award from the South Carolina Dental Association. Her practice has superseded her goals each month since she bought the practice. Charleston is quickly becoming "home" for them.

And now, SIL is boat shopping

That's great Janet. I just bought one Sunday and am picking it up this morning. I've been debating getting one, and saw one advertised in the paper last weekend that was so inexpensive I couldn't turn it down. An oldie but goodie and in great shape. Now I have to find a place to keep it, HOA says no boats outside.

Four of us ate at Bowen's tonight and enjoyed it immensely. Love the décor, very relaxing. We each had the seafood platter, but next trip it will be the oyster platter or tray for me. And you can't beat the prices.
