Just went up to Schenectady from the city by way of Hyde Park and then back. You can see the occasional gold coming in and a very few small bursts of red. The deep greens of summer are sure fading. Hills in the distance look like broccoli you might have kept too long.
Wish I could go back in a few weeks........

Here in Arlington, VA, there isn't a lot of color yet but that will soon change. I suspect over in the upper areas of the Shenandoah it is somewhat more advanced.
North of Albany. Occasional gold coming in and a very few small bursts of red.
Here is OR the foliage is NOTHING like the NE
That is one thing I really miss from our time in upstate NY. Here we get a few yellows and some orange, but it is so muted by comparison.
Everything here is green - except for the few things that have curled up and died and turned brown. But Central Park is never colorful until near the end of October.
OK, we've had an ongoing heat wave here in L.A. that has screwed up our fall foliage -- what we have of it, that is.
Everything is still nice and green. The citrus trees don't change color. The trees in our backyard dropping the most leaves right now are the magnolia and the avocado trees, but neither changes color -- they just go green to brown, then drop. Bumper crop of avocados this year, but most still in the maturing process. Serious bumper crop of limes this year as well.
The apples on the apple trees are the only things changing color, from green to red, other than the persimmons that generally turn from green to orange just before Halloween.
In central CT: Brushes of gold and small blotches of red against a background of green.
In central VT, it's about peak. Despite washout of a weekend, brilliant colors shone through. Very vibrant this yr.
Quite a bit of color in the Concord NH area. DH thinks it's only 40 percent so far but there's a lot of swamp maples around our house which color early. Some have bright red branches here and there but the rest of the tree is green. The color that is starting in the rest of the tree is more of a pinky red. This is kind of unusual. In true swamp areas, the trees are all red.
We had a rainy weekend but the sun started coming out late in the day. It's possible that today is going to be spectacular but looks like a warm week. We didn't get a light frost in mid-Sept like we usually do and the moon is almost full again.
Here is what it is like in my old state of Oregon:

Colorado and other parts of the West are also beautiful this time of year.
A bit more on Colorado - as we were in Colorado Springs a few years ago for an AF Academy reunion of mine, and we drove up Pikes Peak and the fall colors were just outstanding.
We later drove up the center of the state - which also had some beautiful foliage - to The Summit - Frisco/Breckinridge/Keystone - and my wife took numerous pics but these pages will have to suffice for the moment:

Central NJ - Just getting started. A few reds, not much yellow yet. Give it a week!
West Central New Hampshire, we are about 60% of peak. Looks like it may be a good year. Unfortunately, the weather has been miserable the past several days.
Southern Ohio-starting to get some color. Seems early but it has been very dry all summer.
We are getting color(yellows and oranges)a little early this year in Middle Tennessee. It is rainy and only in the 60s today-I love it.
BTW - local fall color here in SD is getting another nice bloom of roses, and the new ones I planted over the summer are all doing well. Double Delight #3 is just doing great, as is Mr. Lincoln #3, the two Kordes Perfectas as well, Secret, Sweet Surrender, Elle, Abraham Darby (a David Austin English Rose), Oklahmoma #2, Firefighter, Fragrant Clouds 1 & 2 have all bloomed at least once - and just this morning - I/weput Perfume Delight in the ground. She is a daughter of the most famous rose in the world - Peace, and hadn't planned to dig another big rose hole (getting a little late in the year) but won her at the local SD Rose Society meeting last week, so hey - gotta do what ya gotta do.

Again,San Diego doesn't have much of a fall foliage/change of seasons panorama - but there are other benefits.
Well we're definitely being held up since we haven't had any really cool weather yet - never mind the killing frost you usually need to get the best colors. Still warm (75 today) and lots of showers.
It is gorgeous here in Western MA, not peaking yet.
I hope the colors in MA hold off- we are planning to visit around Oct 18 and would love to see some colors!
Came over the mountains from Western NC this past weekend and it looks like things are just "this" close to changing. A few trees are starting and it was just beautiful. Asheville NC area.
Hey - heck the foliage (or the orchids anyway) - at Bill and Lisa's lovely home in La Jolla - where this past Sunday afternoon (SC had a bye - at Utah tomorrow night - on National TV) - part of the USC Trojan Band gave a 40th Anniversary salute to the long time band leader - Dr. Art Bartner. I am in a pic with my wife and sister and Tommy Trojan - but you just have to guess which one.

And here is something on the TMBand's storied history. As some of you know - they have played in a welcoming ceremony for Pope John Paul II at Dodger Stadium, at numerous Olympics, Rose Bowls, Navy Pier in Chicago - before the Notre Dame games, on the Great Wall of China, on the beach in Rio - been in movies (Naked Dead and also Forrest Gump - portraying the Alabama Band in the end zone as Forrest runs out of the stadium), cut a Platinum record - Tusk - with Fleetwood Mac - and the beat goes on..........................

Katie, that's pretty late for MA but good luck!
Just left Taos/Red River area of New Mexico. Beautiful yellow aspens!
Northwestern CT. A good year for color. Probably peak around next weekend.
Did anyone yet menton Sedona, AZ?

I can only visualize how beautiful it is and will be in NE. Unfortunately, I won't be up that way until November
I wold say it is about 15% here in the suburbs of Boston. The maples are all orange and red, other trees are all green. Normal peak is in 2 or 3 weeks.
Drove from MA to VT on Tuesday, and over to the White Mountains late Wednesday. Rain and fog yesterday and today has been hampering us, but Tuesday in VT was stunning, especially Rte 4 and Rte 73. Best foliage we've seen in a long time.
Here in central/eastern MA, the poison ivy in my yard looks beautiful, if only I could get close enough to kill it. the trees are mostly still green, but the change is progressing quickly
Around Lake George it is slightly before peak on the southern/western side, at peak north & east side.
Had dinner last night with some delightful - new neighbors who moved out from Mass. They are going back in a couple of weeks to visit one of their sons. Will that be at peak color?
In 2 weeks Mass will be past peak. Anything later than that and trees will be getting bare.
If there is no windy rain storm then color will still be good though.
If, as often happens, we do get wind & rain it can knock a lot of leaves off the trees leaving bare spots. The brilliant colors - yellows, oranges, reds are the early leaves. Late turners like oaks have a more subdued hue - dark reds & browns.
Color has turned very quickly, about 50-60% already. Drove up from the Cape today and saw that all the trees except for oaks have all turned.
It's starting to look pretty here in the Boston area. Should be peak within a week or so. I was in Minneapolis last weekend and it was really nice there, lots of yellow.

Central park is still all green from above. Some yellow leaves falling on the ground.
