Florida Keys with my retriever

Mr. BT, our golden retriever, and I are planning a Florida Keys road trip for early December. We know that having the dog will limit some options, so I come to you, oh wise fodorites, for places to go/places to eat/places to stay that are dog friendly. I've already visited the "Bring Fido" site and others of that ilk, but they can be outdated, unreliable and chain-oriented. I'm looking more for personal, knowledgeable recommendations.

FWIW- the humans love good food, we all love beaches.

TIA!

This delightful place is pet friendly and has a beach on the bay. Be aware that the Keys don't have many beaches.
Bahia Honda State park has a great beach but may not allow dogs.
The restaurant at the Islamorada marina has outside seating and may allow dogs. We love the Zane Grey lounge that overlooks the marina but it does not.

There are several web sites like this:

Best to have a personal report of a good stay.

I believe La Quinta accepts pets at all locations.

Yes, I've seen the "pet friendly" sites, I was hoping for first-hand recommendations. Thank you, starrs, for the lead- White Gate court looks amazing!

Depending on the type of trip you want to have, you might do better with a vacation rental or two (i.e., base yourself in a couple of places in the keys in a dog-friendly condo or house and then explore more widely). A lot of the hotels and resorts that do accept pets also have rather large fees, so it's nice not to have to pay a nightly supplement.

Lazy Dog offers kayaking and SUP in Key West and allows dogs to go along on most of the trips, so you do have some activity options if you want to get out on the water.

Ah, yes, I didn't notice. Thanks for pointing that out. At least the spam post is gone now.
