Florida keys trip

Hi.. after having surgery my husband surprised me with a trip to the Florida Keys. HELP! It's for February 11th!!!
So far I have plane tickets to Miami. Help me out please! Should we drive down to Key West directly, stay 2 days then drive up to Marathon or Islamorada for 2 days then back to Miami? Or should it be 3 days in Key West and one day at Islamorada ? What about KeyLargo?

Here's the thing.. we don't scuba or dive . He likes to go to the beach / pool and veg. I like to take pics. We are in our 50's. Any suggestions for hotels? Places that have to be seen?
Our budget is not really expensive hotels but not cheap ones. I've seen in key west.. The inn at key west? Any ideas? Amara cay in Islamorada ? We are also not picky eaters.. So far I've seen Mallory square, Duval , Fort Zack, southern most point, turtle hospital , Bahia Honda Key.
Thanks so much

Key West is all about Old Town... Inn at Key West is on Roosevelt in a shopping area near a supermarket... you might as well stay home...

Look at www.historickeywestinns.com for better locations and properties...

I would divide my time between South Beach Miami, Islamorada, and Key West...

There are so many food choices that you can decide what to eat by just wandering and picking what you like...

I'm sorry to disagree with Garyt22 but with that amount of time AND if your desire is to "see the Keys" I would NOT spend any time in Miami Beach...at all.

The big thing will be finding a place to stay within your budget.
Key West has a ton of happy hours with super good food and drink specials. TA has a special thread on them. We like Alonzo's because it is on all drinks and a huge food list including 1.00 oysters. We love breakfast and lunch here http://colespeace.com/
and my husband would eat at Banana cafe for breakfast everyday. http://www.bananacafekw.com/

Check out the cemetery in KW. On Windsor, a street outside the cemetery you will see a house that has three different styles. It is Buffet's house. He bought all three and put them together.
the Tennessee William's museum is very interesting. Also go see the Basilica on Truman. It is simple but beautiful.

Robbie's marina, ? Going to stay in Key West for 2 nights. Then go up to Islamorada for 2 nights. Any places I should stop at? Annie beach? Turtle hospital?

Thanks to everyone who commented on my post. We had a great time. We flew to Miami and drove down to Key West. We stopped for lunch at Mrs. Mac Kitchen in Key Largo. The food and atmosphere were fantastic, We were going to stop again on the way to Key West but decided to drive straight thru. We stayed at the 24 North hotel. The hotel was nice, clean and employees were friendly. I guess it would be called a boutique hotel ( it has a Starbucks) not exactly my style )but the pool was nice. We had breakfast next store at a truck called the blind pig. The food was delicious. The hotel had a shuttle to old town so that was a great perk. We spent the morning and early afternoon at the pool. The hotel advertises 2 pools but they count the pool in the hotel next store as the other. The odd thing is that the elevator is outside of the lobby. The only problem we had was a man approached us while waiting for the elevator and asked us for money.
We spent the late afternoon and early evening in old town. We went on the conch train which was interesting for first time visitors. We watched the sunset at Mallory square then walked Duval Street. We stopped at many of the the bars and had dinner at Fogartys which was delicious.. we took the shuttle back to the hotel that night. The next day we had breakfast at the blind pig truck and stayed by the pool till early afternoon. Then we left and drove back up the keys to Islamorada. We stopped for lunch at Robbie'/ marina which was a really cute place. We had a great meal and watche the people feed the fish. There were actually more pelicans than fish but they were entertaining.
We stayed for two days at the Post Card Inn. Wow! I love this place. It was like being in a resort in the Caribbean! The property is huge! They are refurbishing it. We stayed in building 3 . Our room had been done over and it was beautiful, large and clean. They were literally gutting the rooms below us and we didn't hear a sound! The property is large so you feel like there is no one around. We stayed by the pool and everyone was very friendly and happy sitting with their drinks from the Tiki Bar. We moved away to sit by the beach in the afternoon. The staff is friendly, helping you with getting an umbrella, paddle boarding, kayaks, and activities. It wasvery relaxing. The have a fantastic tiki bar that was great, They are attached to the marina and we walked along the Marina . They have fire pits at night to sit by. We had breakfast at the Raw bar and it was good.we ate at the restaurant on the property.. the ciao hound. I enjoyed my dinner my husband did not. I enjoyed my stay there and cannot wait to go back. We left after two days and drove to Miami to return our car and catch a flight. Out of Miami.
