My wife and I are looking to take a 4 day trip to the Florida Keys for our Anniversary April 19-23. Looking for recommendations as where to stay. We would prefer adults only as we have 4 kids and are taking this trip as to "get away" We love the concept of Little Palm Island but who can afford to stay there?
We prefer to be right on the ocean, we would like to walk out of our "hut" and plop down in the sand. Don't really need all the "activities" though I guess a little nightly entertainment would be nice.
Just a romantic getaway....
Any recommendations would be great.....just when we find something appealing a couple of the reviews scare us away.
Thanks!

There are lots of places in Key West that require "children" to be at least 16, but none on the beach. For that matter, I hope you've read a little about the beaches in the keys. The keys are coral and most beaches are man-made with imported sand and are tiny, too.
You might take a look at the Moorings Village in Islamorada...it's got a variety of accommodations and is on the beach.
Oops, meant to include the website. mooringsvillage.com
I can highly echo the recommendation for The Moorings on Islamorada.
We spend a few days there recently and it is idyllic. The feeling is that of a private home, not a hotel. I am happy to comment further on my recent visit if you are interested. We had one of the two suites within the Lodge cottage; the least expensive in the facility, and I could not have asked for anything more (!!)
