Florida Keys - where to stay with teens?

Thinking of going to FL keys in April and looking for info. Where to stay-- would like a resort with good food, interesting pool, snorkeling (can you do this from the beach or do you need to go out in a boat?). How are the beaches in the keys? Anything like the Caribbean? How long is the drive from Miami? Is it worth it or should we go to an island. Traveling with a 14 & 17 yr old.

My wife, daughter and I stayed at the Holiday Isles(I believe) resort 4 years ago. I can't remember the island key it was on, but before Marathon. At any rate, you'll easily find info on it in travel brochures-it's pretty big place, and lots to do for teens-H20 sports, snorkeling, etc. I snorkeled there but water was not clear, due to fertilizer draining in from the Fla. sugar cane fields. I bet your teens will have a good time. nice beach there, too.Where Beach Boys made video "Cocomo"...Right there!
