We're going on a road trip from Texas to South Dakota this month and will be stopping in Emporia one night. I want my kids to do the Jr Ranger program at the Tallgrass Preserve, but other than that we have no plans.
How are the tours? Appropriate for kids? Mine are 6, 4 and 2.
Any great places to eat?
Thanks in advance.

Trip Ideas
We drive through the Flint Hills often en route to family in Wichita. Nice rolling cattle grazing country...pretty enough in Spring or after rains. Don't know about the Tallgrass program. One idea for a lunch stopover...a hotel at Beaumont which is a mile off 400. Nothing fancy but unique, next to a landing field for airplanes flying in for a bite.
