Lulu are you Lulu?? You need to provide more detail. Lets see you can begin in Florida, spend one night, then hightail it up to D.C. see all the sights, then go to New York spend a night there. Most of your time will be traveling by plane or rental car. You have just covered the East Coast.

OK, let's try to help Lulu sort this out. She obviously didn't realize " East Coast" covered so much territory.
So Lulu, post a few more details and we will be happy to make some positive suggestions.
First of all, where will you be arriving from? Are you interested in staying in a luxury hotel in a big US city?
Do quaint B&B's or country inns suit you better than large hotels?

Lulu-
Try to get a Visit USA pass from a domestic US airline. That will allow you to fly between multiple cities one-way and the ticket price will be reasonable.
Here is my suggestion. Fly into Boston and spend at least 2 nights there. Then go to NYC for at least 3 nights. DC can be done in about 2 nights. From there, I'd fly to Charleston SC and spend 2-3 nights.... there is a lot to see in this area and the beaches are nice. From there, definitely make it to Miami/Key West for about 3 nights as well. You can fly from Miami back to your hometown.
If you want more details, let me know. This intinerary gives you a feel for the Northeast corridor, the Southeast, and tropical Florida... pretty much a nutshell of the East Coast.
Have fun!
