First time to Hawaii
We got an offer somewhat like an earlier post at the Westin in Maui (about $158/per night and the deal is for 5 nights). I don't care if we stay in B&B's or hotel. Thougts on that? Also is 5 nights in just one place going to limit our sightseeing on Maui. And if we add a few days on what one other island, should it be BI or Oahu?

Since this is your first time to Hawaii, don't miss Oahu. Everyone needs to see Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor and find out why Waikiki is so popular. Then rent a car for a day and drive around the island to see the Blow Hole, Haunama Bay, the Pali overlook, Punchbowl Cemetery, and the beautiful beaches on the other side of the island.
You can also rent a car in Maui and see it all from one location. I like that much better than packing up and moving.

"Waikiki is just another big, congested city,"
Honolulu is the city, Waikiki is the beach area there. I strongly disagree with the statement above. Waikiki is GORGEOUS imo.
That said unless you have more than 1 week, I would stick with only 1 island.

We stayed 5 nights at Wesin on Maui in October on a package deal with a car and a great rate. We felt that it was enough time for our first trip to Maui.
We also spent 5 nights on Oahu and 3 nights on BI -- that was not enough time on BI and we could have used more time on Oahu too.
Here's a link to trip report which talks about our experience at Westin Maui.

I have others for parts of trip report; they are in second link. Food, activities etc. Link to photos may not work.
