I have 3 words for you - Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. PV is not like other Mexican cities you may have seen or heard about. There are many beautiful places - yes there is poverty, but Cinci has it too - I've been there! Call American Airlines 1800-321-2121 - that is flyaway vacations. I know Delta is a major Cinci hub so you might want to try their excursions pkgs too. I know that AA has a great one because I used it. At least from NY, we spent $800 per person to stay at a 5 * hotel - the Camino Real - it is beautiful - quiet and idylic. Other nice hotels that may be available to you are the Sheraton, the Hyatt, the Krystal. Do Not stay at the place where they filmed the "Night of the Aguana" - it is a pit. The snorkling at Los Arcos is good - shopping at the flea market is great fun - prepare to bargain - some great food places - -pick up a Fodors or a Birnbaum's - they are great helps.

I'll ditto Jaimie's reply, PV is fantastic. Beautiful mountains covered with palm trees. The Pacific Ocean is blue & beautiful. The fishing there is some of the best in the world! Trophy dolphin (dorado), sail fish and tuna. You can find cheap charters all over down there. The restraunts are great too - Roberto's Puerto Nuevo & La Cave are a couple of favorites. Stay closer to the El Centro area in a NICE place as recommended above. You will be close to a lot of restraunts & cool shops. The resort areas to the north, near the Marina, are too far from everything, a cab ride everywhere.

I know the perfect place for you. It is called Cape May, New Jersey. It is a nice quiet town with everything you are looking for. A bed and breakfast would be the perfect place for you. I work at a very popular one called The Queen Victoria. It has Private hot tubs and kitchenettes, a fireplace+ wonderful food and shopping. It is only 45 minutes away from the casinos in Atlantic City. You should try checking out our web site at queenvictoria.com. Or if you would like me to help you feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].

I would consider San Francisco. We just got back, and everything you mentioned is there (and in close proximity) and more! It's romantic, fun, great restaurants, shopping, museums, etc. I know it's a city, but there is something so special and different about San Francisco that I don't view it in the same light as New York or Chicago.

Hope I'm not too late.... If you're a nature lover, my suggestion is Jackson Hole/Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. It meets many of your qualifications: romantic, mtns, fishing, canoeing/rafting, clean air away from city, balloon rides, gr8 food.... You should be able to fly thru Salt Lake City on Delta. For lodging there's Jenny Lake Lodge in the park (see www.gtlc.com) or Spring Creek Resort outside the park but not in town (see springcreekresort.com). I'm sure there's nice lodging in town as well. For park info see www.nps.gov. I could go on & on but I don't want to take up any more space if you're not interested. Let me just say that this is the most beautiful place I have ever seen; my husband & I were married on the shore of Jenny Lake last October. If you do want more detailed info from me, send me an email; I'll be happy to help. Good luck & happy anniversary!

Jenny Lake is beautiful, I agree. However, Wyoming is cool in late September. Yellowstone is fantastic if you like nature.
If you like warmer weather, how about a quaint New England village along the ocean. Or the Virginia coast. My money for a romantic place would be the Greek Islands, but that's a bit far.
San Francisco is also great. We enjoyed the Hotel Monaco, a boutique hotel in the heart of the city. I recommend it for a romantic interlude. Also, the Highlands Inn in Carmel is designed for romance, but it's expensive. New Orleans could fit your bill; it's warm and wonderful. I haven't stayed there in several years, though. I also loved Miami Beach or Key Biscayne in Florida.
Hope these ideas help. Have fun

Most of your description fits St. Maartin. I went last
summer and spent a week at Beachside Villas on Simpson
Bay (a private beach)which was not a nude beach, but
many of the other guests were nude most of the time.
The French side of the island has a nude beach and
resort. There are casinos, excellent restaurants too
numerous to mention, all kinds of excursions available
to other islands, snorkeling, scuba, etc as well as
boat charters, both fishing and sailing. The villa
I stayed at included a car, so getting around the island
was easy. The shopping is excellent (except when cruise
ships are in port) in Phillipsburg, and Marigot on the
French side has market days on Wed. & Sat. I would go
back there in a second. Email me if you want any more
details, I could go on and on..
