The good news is the fire is at about 40% containment and improving. The weather is turning tomorrow and snow could fall overnight, which is exactly what they need. The evacuation zone will be lifted tomorrow too. No reason not to come.
Be aware there are more storms predicted for Saturday, but nothing severe at the moment. We were there over Thanksgiving and we were shocked this fire was still burning, with pretty heavy smoke in the Moraine. The Fall River entrance of the park remained open the whole time, so there were parts of the park that were accessible. Here's the link to the EP Gazette for more updates: http://www.eptrail.com/
Wow! Part of the park was closed when I was there in October because of fires. Still had a good time in Estes Park and RMNP.
Thanks!!! Such valuable information from you both!
