Finding the perfect Birthday cake in Miami

A close friend's birthday is a month from today. He works in downtown Miami. I would love to order a very decadent, special birthday cake to be delivered to his office.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a great bakery in Miami for this? Thanks! Trish

Today we did a Carvel ice cream cake for my partner's birthday with the whole staff at our community theatre. It was a huge hit. Layers of chocolate and vanilla ice cream with cookie crumbs between, creamy icing, and mini cookies and hershey bars on top. Carvel is all over Florida and I believe you can get them to deliver. At least the one here in Naples will.
Beats the usual bakery cake, although frankly Publix does about as good as anybody I've found in Florida for regular birthday cakes.

Hi Patrick! Happy Birthday to Lee!

I love Carvel...those yummy cookie crumb bits between the ice cream layers. We get them for office birthdays all the time here in NJ.

I was hoping for something more along the lines of Cupcake Cafe in NYC for this one...

THE cakes to have in Miami are from Sweet Art or Cake Designs whose websites are www.sweetartbylucila.com and www.cakedesignsbyedda.com From what I saw of the Cupcake Cafe, they seem similar. The cakes are usually a vanilla rum cake, although chocolate is delicious too, with buttercream frosting. They will absolutely do any shape you want including a shoe, a palm tree, anything.

As a Miami resident I can say that there is only place for a special birthday cake. Ana Paz. Her cakes are delicious and beautiful. She has done countless birthdays for my family and even my recent wedding cake.

As a Miami resident that has tasted cakes from Lucila, Edda and Ana Paz, I have to say they are all great and they are all pretty much the same types of cakes. My personal favorite is Sweet Art by Lucila, who I have ordered countless cakes from, and least favorite is Ana Paz.

I am sure that if you choose to go with any of these, you will be happy with their cakes as they are different and very yummy.

Since Miami is "the other New York" why not send a New York cheesecake. You can call Junior's in Brooklyn (phone number 888-577-2253) with shipping it under $40 and they have several flavors to choose from. Cheesecake Factory will also deliver and I know they are in Florida.
