My wife and I are visiting (from Europe) various places on SC/GA/FL coast in November (Charleston, Savannah, ending up on Cumberland Island) and have one free day/night before we fly out of Orlando. Looking for fairly upscale place, not too touristy, to stay in. Both Fernandina Beach and St Augustine seem attractive. Which do people think would be the better? Or somewhere else entirely in this general area? Thanks for any comments or suggestions.
Fernandina Beach or St Augustine?

I like Fernandina Beach a lot. The historical aspect of St Augustine may seem laughable if you are European because much of it appears to be reconstructed.
The town of Fernandina Beach is a "real place" as opposed to being a tourist destination. On the other hand, if you seek an upscale place to relax, Amelia Island may well be your place.
Thanks, Ackislander.
Yes, I'm leaning towards Fernandina Beach / Amelia Island. Probably quieter and more relaxing than St Augustine. Although after a couple of nights on Cumberland Island we may have enough relaxation.....
