I live in central Illinois and want to take my wife on a beautiful fall drive; perhaps two nights over-nite. I have been to Indiana and Missouri. I am leaning towards southern Wisconsin. We have been to House on the Rock but not in the Fall. I am thinking about Taelisin at Spring Green/Mineral Point.
Got any ideas?

I might suggest NE Iowa. There are some very pretty limestone bluffs and great fall foilage. Decorah is a nice little norwegian town. There are also several nice towns and B&B's along the Mississippi.
I would say throughh Wisconsin, cross into Minnesota by LaCrosse and up to Red Wing along the Mississippi
I second the Iowa suggestion. Catch the Great River Road at Clinton ,Ia. and head north (hiways 67 and 52),all the way to Lansing. The views in Belleview, Dubuque, Guttenberg and McGregor are truly spectacular! Then cross over to Wisconsin for Taelsin.
Hi!
Go through Baraboo! The surrounding areas you can drive through the foot hills, and it's beautiful!
Mike,
I second the NE Iowa/Minnesota/Wisconsin drive. NE Iowa is beautiful - lots of rolling hills and valleys. We were there for the first time this summer and I couldn't believe I was in Iowa!! Just follow the river road signs upriver and you can't go wrong!
We have a boat on Lake Pepin so I am very familiar with the Red Wing area. The bluffs are just beautiful - especially in the fall. Red Wing is a neat little river town with lots of shopping and fun things to do.
Whatever you do, have fun!!
Mike,
Door County, Wisconsin is absolutely beautiful in the fall.
Try checking out weather.com and select "Travel" from the top bar. Then select scenic drives. WI has 5 different routes that may fit you program. I noticed another button along the way of "fall color drive" that may also be a match for you.
