Family trip to San Diego. Itinerary help!
Hi we are taking 5 days in California. Flying into San Diego. We think we may drive to Anaheim the first night, spend two nights and do Disney.
Then go back to San Diego. Where to stay with family? Paradise Point, Hilton, Hyatt, Hotel Pacific. We just want direct beach access.
We had considered Carlsbad over SD for the remaining beach days. But, not sure. What do you all think?

Don't miss Old Town State Park in San Diego! Great informal/fun restaurant shops (RUST GENERAL STORE!!!), historical buildings, atmosphere.
They Hyatt i know (maybe there are others) does not have direct beach access. It is next to Seaport Village, which does have nice waterside trail.
How old are your kids?

You could try La Jolla Shores Hotel which is right on one of the best beaches in San Diego. www.ljshoreshotel.com

Hi french !
If you want to be in walking distance to restaurants, cafes, shops, beach then you don't want to stay at Paradise Point, Hilton or Hyatt Mission Bay. They are all isolated and on the Bay not the ocean beach.
The only 2 hotels on the Bay that are walking distance to the beach is The Catamaran. 1 block away. The Bahia is a little further walk to the Beach. Catamaran is walking distance to all the restaurants, shops, etc.
If by Pacific Hotel you mean Pacific Terrace that is the only one that is on the beach. It's along the Pacific Beach boardwalk. It's a very nice hotel. You can walk out the door to the beach / water. Eat / drink in one of the restaurants with an ocean view along the boardwalk.

Catamaran is a block from the ocean, with lots of restaurants in the immediate area. If you are just planning to hang out on the beach the others are okay, but with a family, catamaran is certainly easier to go walking and find lots to do, including the beach.
What time of year are you going? That would have a big impact on which of these hotels to choose.

A hotel directly on the beach is Tower23 (named after the lifeguard stand ). It's been a few years since I stayed in the hotel, but we eat at JRDN restaurant fairly often. Great food & drinks and a great location on the boardwalk.

Can you fly into SNA (Orange County/John Wayne) and out of San Diego ? It is just easier if the first few days you are planning on going to Disney.
If you are not planning on anything but the beach (which is great!) I would just stay in Orange county - Laguna Beach, Newport Beach or San Clemente are a few of the areas I would look in... ?
(I love San Diego but no real reason to fly in and out of there if it is Disney and the beach you are looking for)
