My family (2 adults and 3 kids ages 14-7) are planning to drive from San Francisco to Portland, OR this Thanksgiving. We have 5 days to travel. Any suggestions for our trip up the coast would be great. We are interested in any places to stay and fun things to do along the way this time of year that are kid focused.
Thanks!

I would suggest you head up I 5 to say Redding - and then over to the Coast - or even cross the border into Oregon - and stay at the very cute college town of Ashland. From either place - you could drive on up the beautiful Oregon Coast - but if you were in Ashland - you couuld also visit Crater Lake - one of the natural wonders of the world.
As for staying on the Coast - I like a place by Depot Bay (just south of Lincoln City) -- called the Surfrider - which overlooks the Ocean. On my wife's laptop now so can't cut and paste the page.
There are also many other posts on this under Oregon.
I'm guessing your 5 days are Wed-Sun. My suggested route would be SF to Medford (or Ashland). The south entrance to Crater Lake is open but there is quite a bit of snow up there.
What time do you want to be in Portland on Thursday (Thanksgiving)? From Portland drive over US 26 to the coast and Cannon Beach for Friday night. It is up to you to decide how far south you want to drive on US 101. If you have the time, you can drive all the way back to San Francisco. I like driving the route along the coast southbound to avoid left turns to the viewpoints.
