Can you clarify your question, please? Are you driving down Hwy 1 and are you asking what there is to see and do along the way? If so, what do you want to see and what are your interests?

Also- where do you turn off the interstate to head to the Oregon Coast? Do you want to drive down 101 the entire way or do you have plans inland before Yachats?

Good questions. Mine is do you want to do the coast on the way south and the inland part on the return trip? The coastal route in Oregon is US 101. Rt. 1 is a California thing.
Do you want to see any inland National Parks on the return such as Yosemite, Lassen or Crater Lake?

Highway 101 from Yachts to Florence and from Port Orford to Brookings skirts the ocean--the views are exceptional.

Other attractions of interest include the redwoods of Northern California, the Sonoma Valley, the Napa Valley, San Francisco, Monterey, and Carmel-by-the-Sea.

If you drive on I-5, you could make a detour to Crater Lake or catch a show at the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon.

Our favorite views in the Columbia River Gorge are from the Historic Columbia River Highway and WA-14, rather than from the Interstate on the Oregon side on the river.

There are bridges at Cascade Locks and Hood River.

Hood river is a delightful town for a meal or for ice cream at Mike's.
