I am responsible for planning our next family reunion. It is always the third week in July every third year. I live in Kansas (KC area) and would like to find some place that has all of the following requirements:
-cabins/ motel rooms(air conditioning required)
-camping sites close by- usually RV's
-area for family gatherings/ meals (indoors)
-pets allowed
last reunions have been in Chadron,NE and Port Townsend,WA. We have family living in CA, OR, WA, ID, KS, MO, OK, TX, OH, KY. Something central to most is best, and results in best turnout (especially in bad economy). We usually meet for 3 days, and plan some activities together, but need some things for families to do on their own time. We had about 30 at last and 45 at previous one.

I think you should check out YMCA of the Rockies: ymcarockies.org. It fits your requirement on demographics, pets, gathering areas, cabins and lodge rooms, and camp sites nearby. No AC, though; but we didn't need it. The Snow Mountain Ranch facility has tent sites (and maybe RV sites, can't remember) on the grounds. Both have lots of free stuff to do: hike programs, pool, tennis, evening programs. Some things are an additional charge: hay rides, zip line, horseback riding, day camp. I got an email this week about a "family Reunion University" they are having this fall for reunion planners. Our family has been to both facilities and we have always had a great time, so did our Labrador; but she didn't love being on a leash all the time. THis year, when we were visited by a bear in the evenings and saw a badger a hundred yards or so from the cabin, we were glad we followed the leash rules. Pets are welcome in cabins but not lodge rooms. Did I say the prices are very reasonable. July is their busiest time, so plan early.
You might check out Big Cedar Lodge near Branson. We've never been there but have friends who rave about it.

Big Cedar Lodge is nice but the third week in July is very hot and humid for any outdoor activities.
