Family hotel on West Side
Hi, Can anyone help me with the name of a nice family hotel in the West Side, I am looking for a nice suite for three adults.( three girl friends) they will be staying next March.
Any other suggestion for a nice hotel, not terribly expensive, in the 300 dollars for a suite will be greatly appreciated.
I do not care too much for the Affinia hotels. Had a bad experience in the Affinia located
East 50 th street.

Have stayed both at the Beacon and at the Affinia Dumont (in Murray Hill area at 34th st and Lex.).
They were both great in my opinion. The Beacon has become a bit prohibitively expensive in the last few years so I doubt that you could get it for 300 dollars, while the Affinia Dumont would probably be doable. In any case, both were great and the neighborhoods, while different and far from each other, also were very good.

Have just checked the Beacon and they have a variety of one bedroom suites (either 2 doubles or king in bedroom and a sleep sofa in LR) for $325 per night THIS March. (I'm assuming you mean this March - not next March - since 2012 rates are obviously not available.) This is an advance purchase internet rate. This rate is about $379 with taxes.
The Newton, which is further uptown and somewhat more basic but recently redone has suites with 2 doubles in the BR and a parlor for about $239 per night - again advance purchase and limited availability. This rate is about $279 with taxes.
These rates are assuming you are not here over St Pat's Day - which might well drive up the rates.
If it were me I would not do a suite but would take two separate rooms in order to get two baths (for me 3 women in one bath is 2 too many). I would have a look at the various discount sights to see what deals you can get.
Also - not sure what you man by a "family" hotel. None of these hotels specialize in kids - and you don;t have any kids anyway.

The Lucerne has a queen suite - 2 queen beds and a small LR for about $400 per night including taxes. You may also want to look at the Excelsior and On the Ave.
I think you will need to do some shopping on discount web sites to find a suite for your budget if you want to be in the 79th St area versus 96th St. Have you looked at travelzoo, hotwire, kayak etc?

"The west side" can mean a lot of different things from Chelsea to the upper west side. If you mean midtown west, there aren't a lot of suite hotels. The Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square is one good option and is sometimes available on Hotwire. You'd know it on Hotwire as it's the only 4* hotel with an "s" for suite in the Times Square area.
Blakelyhotelny.com has some 1 bedroom suites with 2 double beds and a daybed in the living room.
Nycsalisbury.com and radiocityapartments.com are budget hotels in midtown west.
If 2 of the women are willing to share a queen bed, the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square and the Hampton Inn Times Square North are very popular, well located and good.
The Eventi is a newish trendy boutique hotel on the edge of midtown west and Chelsea that has rooms with 2 queens although they get pricey. The Hampton Inn Chelsea also has 2 queen rooms.
