Hi David12-
You might have better luck on chowhound.com. With 12 of you, you'll need to make a reservation ASAP (esp if this is a weekend dinner).
One place I could think of is Astral Plane.

Ralph's in South Philly is a good family place, but you will need reservations. It's not formal and should have food that appeals to all. Another option would be Chinatown; the Imperial Inn is good and has room for large groups. You'd probably need to taxi to either place as you've got 4 year olds and grandparents, but Imperial Inn may be walkable for you.
Have a lovely time in Philadelphia!

hi,
there are so many rest in the area that it is hard to know where to start.Do you like seafood? We like going to DiNardo's on race st between 3-4th st. THey are known for their hard shell crabs and the setting is very casual. Your 4 year old might like looking at all the crabs (you order them according to size) and the menu includes meat as well. Definitely make reservations (they take them for larger parties) and/or go early around 5 if you are going on a weekend as it is very busy. Have fun!
