Hi,
We have a 3 day weekend coming up in March that we were hoping to use to escape the crazy hectic world of Washington DC. We don't want to spend all our time driving or flying and yet we wanted to do some exploring and OOHing and Awwing not just sitting at the beach relaxing. Would the everglades be doable and would they be worth it for the amount of time we have? any suggestions gladly taken.
Thanks!

To get from Washington DC to just about anywhere, that's less than a day's drive away, means (surprise!) one day driving or flying each way. Which will immediately leave you with exactly one day for exploring and ooh-ing and ahh-ing.
Although I absolutely adore the Everglades, they're just not worth the expense and hassle of a visit from DC, if you're only allowing one day to actually visit the place.
Visiting Assateague Island area will give you an opportunity to see nature in a somewhat wild way,

but without a super amount of hassle. Just be aware that "beach" does not mean "sunny and warm" in March.
