Evening entertainment in NYC

Hi again,
As I'm sure many of you know now, my family of four will be in NYC in March. Now, when we've went to NYC in the past, we've ALWAYS went to Broadway shows at night to fill the evening. This time, however, we have one night free and do not want to see a Broadway show this night (we're already seeing 4 shows). So, where can a family go in walking distance from the Martinique Hotel in the evening. It has to fill the entire evening from, let's say, 7:00 to 12:30. Also, it will be NON-alcoholic related, athough something like a piano bar could be neat if thay allow minors in. Is there any suggestions?

The most well known piano bars are expensive and will not allow children. I would try and see a movie you wouldn't be able to see at home.

How about ice skating at Chelsea Piers? Or at Rockefeller Center or Wollman Rink in Central Park. Chelsea Piers is indoor and the other 2 would be outdoors.

You might enjoy a walk around some of the village, have a snack and head over to Chelsea Piers (23rd and the Hudson River).

Have a great time.

Check out Citysearch New York for concerts that take place when you'll be here. The Beacon Theater might have something to interest you and your family. Also Lincoln Center.

Many museums, like the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim have late nights with a concert where you could also get a snack and non-alcoholic drinks. Check their websites.

Some events may not be in walking distance to your hotel but we have great public transportation.

Good ideas so far. Going along with the movie thought, how about the Sony IMAX theater? Another possibility, if you've not seen the movie Chicago, it's supposed to be awesome at the Ziegfield theater in the west 50's because of their sound system & the size of their screen. (assuming it's still on there) Also, have you checked out what's at Madison Square Garden? Maybe a concert or sporting event.

How about dinner on the upper west side then to the Hayden Planetarium for a show? Blondie's for wings would be fun, kid friendly and non - alcoholic if you want. Call the American Museum of Natural History first to be sure they are open at night on that night.
