Entertainment Book-Read the fine print first!

I know first hand that the Entertainment Discount DOES NOT apply to most hotels in Hawaii during high peak travel seasons - specfically, Christmas, and any other major holiday. I phoned a property that was featured in the book and was told that they never extend the Entertainment book discount during the Holiday season. I went to www.entertainment.com to view the "Hotels Rule of Use" section and came upon the following information:

"Hotel Availability and Your Discount Rates
Reservations with the Entertainment® discount are accepted based on projected unoccupied hotel rooms and will be available until the hotel projects to be 80% full. The discount may not be available for part of your stay or your entire stay if traveling during peak season, conventions or special events.
50% discounts apply only to the rack room rate, 10% discounts apply only to the rate available to the general public and neither apply to weekend or group/convention rates, packages, travel agency bookings, special amenities, meal plans or all-inclusive plans, and cannot be combined with other discount rate programs.
If the discount is not available, check alternate travel dates, call back closer to your travel date, or contact other listed hotels in the area."

I now wish that I had saved my $$$ since hotel accommodation discounts during typical holidays was the main reason why I purchased it.

Don't worry. If you use your book a few times for local restaurants, dry cleaners and whatever else you find, the book will pay for itself in no time. Most charitable organizations sell them for a fundraiser. Most people buy them (even give them as gifts).

I buy the E book every year and use it moderately. Usually the restaurants aren't the one's I would go to, mostly start up places. This past year I used the E rate for car rentals and it was the lowest price, the hotels are iffy but I did get a good rate in Arizona once using the Entertainment card. Since my kids school sell them I'm sort of required to buy it. Then I trade coupons with some other folks who live in other parts of town. I give a colleague of my husband's all the golf discounts and he gives us stuff near our house.

Just maybe you should read the rules first!!! do you sign contracts without reading them first? then again you probably put things together first then read the instructions.

My 2¢, I did as AL SUGGESTED and read the fine print (actually it was big print) that said "lunch or dinner" on the Entertainment coupon. In spite of this, I was refused lunch. I went out the the car and got the book to show the manager and was told "sorry, dinner only".

Mustang,

If it's worth the few dollars to you, call the company that manufactures the book (i believe they are in Michigan), they will "make you whole" and straighten out the restaurant so that others don't have a similar problem.

All you have to do is use the $5.00 off at Safeway stores (if in your area)and you get your money back in 4 months! Then, every thing else is gravy. Sometimes,I have truly got the 50% off value, and at other times, it is not available, especially in big cities. All you have to do is use it once on a hotel, and you have way more than your money back.
