Take them to a Farm and Fleet for some Carhartt snow suits?
(sorry, not helpful, I know)
What is it they like to do and see?
Travelwisconsin.com has a lot of info. It's tough to get real specific without knowing their interests. Depending on the fall color, you could drive up to Bayfield or the UP and spend a couple days along the shore of Lake Superior. There probably aren't a lot of sporting events during those dates - the Packers are out of town, the Brewers might be in the playoffs, and the Badgers play on Saturdays (football). Same thing for festivals, most are on the weekends and your family is coming in on Sunday at the tail end of things.
Even if they've been to Madison/Milwaukee they can't possibly have seen everything, so a return visit might be in order. But first I would dig around the Green Bay area and see what you can come up with, then follow the fall color reports and hope there's still some color up north. Right now the peak color is supposed to be 3-5 weeks off, so depending on how it plays out you could get lucky and still have some good color during their trip.
In Green Bay, the RR Museum, the County Museum, and the Packers Hall of Fame are all worth a visit.
The Packers aren't playing at home Oct 12. The Milwaukee Bucks have no home games during your time period, either.
At www.wistravel.com you can find a listing of events in the state.
What about the Madison Farmers Market?
Hi Oshkosh,
I'm not sure what you like to do but if it was me I'd go to back to Door County. It is so beautiful. Lovely beaches and trails for walking, shopping, parks, golf, boat cruises, plays, music etc.
However, another suggestion would be to spend a day in the Kohler and Sheboyan area. We enjoy the Shops at Woodlake. We eat lunch at a wonderful restaurant called Cucina that is right in the shopping center and overlooks a small man-made lake. It is part of the Kohler Resort. There is also a small art gallery (if you enjoy that type of thing). We sometimes go to the Kohler showroom across the street. Nearby Sheboygan also has a nice river walk and a lovely beach area for walking.
After we leave Sheboygan we head north along Lakeshore Road all the way to Manitowoc. It goes past Whistling Straits Golf Course and winds along Lake Michigan. That time of year it should be an especially scenic drive. I think the trees may be be peaking about then.
There are so many things to do in the Milwaukee area. What have you done there and what sort of things do you like?
I'm sure anything that doesn't involve tropical storms or hurricanes will be a nice vacation for them. Have fun!
Make sure you introduce them to all the wonderful local beers of Wisconsin! Granted they come from the land of Abita Turbodog. But the New Glarus beers, the Ale Asylum beers, the Capitol Brewery beers are not to be missed!
Have they been to Taliesin?
That time frame is normally ideal color in that part of the state. Door County is a wonderful visit at this time of the year. There is a festival in Sister Bay around that time. Not sure of exact dates this year.
If not...how about the Packer Hall of Fame? They do not have to be football fans to appreciate it.
Of course it is still too early to know for sure but the current peak color prediction for Door County as well as the Sheboygan area is mid-October.
Only 2 things since you have already been around a bit. But the Packers play in Seattle on the 12th, so that leaves only one.
Drive straight west on 21 until you get to Tomah. Then head south on 131 through the Kickapoo River valley. The most beautiful part of the state. Door county is nothing compared to this. Every twist and turn offers a new scenic vista. Elk farms and other cool stuff. The driftless coulee region. It is the stuff that autumn calendars are made from.
2 days of meandering here and your spirit is refreshed, reorientated, and in tune with the cosmic ebb and flow of the natural rhythms. Camp somewhere and get the full exposure. Or just do the B&B thing. I love this part of the state for an autumn weekend meandering drive.
The ultimate would be to rent scooters. Feel the air and travel at the right speed for catching all the nuances.

Youy've done wisconsin--take them to Chicago!
Try www.pickyourown.org to find apple farms, pumpkin patches, mazes etc. in your area. I think that young and old alike would enjoy a glass of fresh, ice cold apple cider while sitting on a bale of hay...or is it straw? ah, memories...
Also try www.appleholler.com. I can recommend the food but haven't been to the Apple Holler during the fall when the apples were harvested.
